I watched this because I'm a fan of 80s fantasy movies ("Willow," Labyrinth," "Ladyhawke") and because I heard this one of the best screen dragons. And he is pretty cool in a pre-digital, Ray Harryhausen way. Too bad the story is a little half-assed and sometimes plays as unfunny Monty Python. Peter MacNicol, in his debut, is badly miscast, Ralph Richardson chews some scenery, Caitlin Clakre is more spunky than your average heroine and future Emperor Palpatine Ian MacDiarmid has a small role. Worth it for the dragon, the scenery and the effects. Also see "Dragonheart" and "Reign of Fire."
