Originally from Liverpool, England - Gerry and the Pacemakers (who were part of the first "British Invasion") was an English beat group prominent in the mid-1960s.

The group's original name was Gerry Marsden and the Mars Bars, but they were forced to change this when the Mars Company, producers of the chocolate Mars Bar, complained. (You'd think that the Mars Company would be pleased with all the great, free advertising)

Their sound was very distinguishable in the musical genre known as "Merseybeat". Like the Beatles - They were managed by Brian Epstein, and were recorded by George Martin. And, they stand as the second most successful pop group of that era originating from Liverpool.

This "Gerry Cross The Mersey" CD contains 16 tracks in all which were recorded by the band in the years from 1963-1965. (*Be sure to watch music video*)
