Amber Sand is not a witch. The Sand family Wicca gene somehow leapfrogged over her. But she did get one highly specific magical talent: she can see true love. As a matchmaker, Amber's pretty far down the sorcery food chain (even birthday party magicians rank higher), but after five seconds of eye contact, she can envision anyone's soul mate. Amber works at her mother's magic shop--Windy City Magic--in downtown Chicago, and she's confident she's seen every kind of happy ending there is: except for one--her own. (The Fates are tricky jerks that way.) So when Charlie Blitzman, the mayor's son and most-desired boy in school, comes to her for help finding his father's missing girlfriend, she's distressed to find herself falling for him. Because while she can't see her own match, she can see his--and it's not Amber. How can she, an honest peddler of true love, pursue a boy she knows full well isn't her match? The Best Kind of Magic is set in urban Chicago and will appeal to readers who long for magic in the real world. With a sharp-witted and sassy heroine, a quirky cast of mystical beings, and a heady dose of adventure, this novel will have you laughing out loud and questioning your belief in happy endings

Amber is a matchmaker with the ability to see anyone’s soulmate… except her own. While she was always consulting others on love and knowing who’s perfect for them, that has never been a reality for her. When Charlie comes into her life because of his dad’s missing girlfriend, Amber knows she is smitten. But when she learns that Charlie’s soulmate isn’t her, can she pursue him even when she knows she’s taking someone else’s love? This was a beautiful novel on love, fate and how those two intertwined. The characters were well thought out and likable. The romance was breathtaking and kept me at my toes hoping for more. Overall, I really loved this novel and is excited to read the continuation. This book was a fairly interesting read. It's about a young matchmaker who can find someone's true love by looking into their eyes, yet she can't find her own. Amber Sand is a matchmaker and she wants to help her mom find the President's girlfriend. The president's son, Charlie Blitzman, who is shy but highly popular at school comes to Amber for help. As the book progresses, the two characters fall for each other while trying to find the President’s girlfriend. I would say this book was not that bad. There was magic, mystery, adventure, and a few twists which made it good enough to continue. If you want to read a book with magic and mischief then this is the book for you. 4/5 stars.
