This story was action paced with a lot of fun characters.

Bryn is feeling down about her latest mission to the Skojare. Coming home without finding Linnea, getting beaten up by the kingdom traitor, and confused about her feelings for Ridley, she's feeling like the whole trip has been a failure. But when the chance to redeem herself appears and she gets a lead on the missing Skojare Queen's location, she dives right into the thick of things once more. The question arises, how far is she willing to go? When her journey takes her back to Storvatten, straight into a tangled mess of inept guarding, royal flirtations, and politically treasonous schemes such as an attempt on a Royal, Bryn feels like she's way in over her head. And she's prepared to go even deeper for her kingdom, for her friends, and for what's right.

Thought it was a good read like the first, but nothing really ended up surprising me in this book. I love the plot though, and also the historical language aspect to it.

What you see is what you get with the Kanin Chronicles. Unfortunately, that isn't much in the newest edition: Ice Kissed. While many were happy that there was no further world building (except for a little lake exploration), I was a little let down. I didn't necessarily want the characters go out and discover new places but I wish there was something more to look forward to and provide distraction from the bland and silly plotline. The meat of the story regarding the missing Queen and court politics of the Skojare tribe seemed to be constructed lazily and without any conviction. As a result, the story just dragged towards the middle. The book seemed very much like one that is in transition as a few questions that were answered were overshadowed by new questions which overall left a lingering feeling of befuddlement in me.
