This is one of the few records published by Gurdjieff in which he offers guidance to his 'community of seekers', the pupils from many countries who joined him in Paris and New York. The first section is mainly autobiographical, relating material crucial to an understanding of the nature and intensity of personal effort required for an all-inclusive work on oneself. This is followed by a series of talks which Gurdjieff gave to his pupils in New York in 1930, and then by a long, but incomplete, essay on 'The Outer and Inner World of Man'.

I have only read the first book in this series, Beezelbub's Tales to his Grandson. At 1200 pages I think that is quite the feat, but this search engine didn't have this book in it's results.

This is a very interesting, but difficult read. The first 50 pages are all about how he is not an author and should not be writing this book, but no one else is so he has to. HA! But I am glad he did. Although, he invents a lot of the words he uses to describes the different planets and their cultures. He doesn't explain these words, and makes it really hard to follow along.

I still recommend this book, as it's underlying message is really important.
