Sister dies and younger sister tries to cope with the loss. An artistic, abstract book that questions life after death. There is alot of exposition, explanation and storytelling. Very little dialogue or action. Much reflection and whimsical writings. Very little dialogue or action. The girl is alone in her grief. Not my style.

An understated and lovely story that spiritually connects the animal and human worlds. Kathi Appelt is so good at conveying her characters' feelings- no matter the species- and I deeply felt the highs and lows of each and every one of them throughout.

This is a book about death and grieving. It has a unique spiritualism running through it, connecting people and animals. It may be just the right book for a young reader trying to process their feelings about death, or someone who likes thought-provoking stories with mysticism and animals.

A quiet book about loss and grieving. Not for everyone, but for those who love Patterson's Bridge to Terabithia, this will be worth checking out.
