The best kind of novel. Character, setting, plot are all there, can't put it down. A story of a survivor, and sometimes it ain't pretty. Hightly recommend it.

This is the first novel of Perez-Reverte's that I have read and I was captivated. His research, depth of character development, plot lines, and detail made this book hard to put down. By the end of this novel I knew a lot about the drug cartels in Mexico, Spain, Morocco, and also the human side of that life path. What a writer!

I loved this! Vivid characters, a complex and non-predictable plot, multiple countries and decades, and questionable morals all make this a book I couldn't put down.

I haven't read this translation, but the original was one of the best books I read all last year. Gripping, insightful, and, most important of all, plausible. ¡A disfrutar!
