"In this gorgeously illustrated, full-color graphic memoir, Stan Lee--comic book legend and cocreator of Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Avengers, the Incredible Hulk, and a legion of other Marvel superheroes--shares his iconic legacy and the story of how modern comics came to be. Stan Lee is a man who needs no introduction. The most legendary name in the history of comic books, he has been the leading creative force behind Marvel Comics, and has brought to life--and into the mainstream--some of the world's best-known heroes and most infamous villains throughout his career. His stories--filled with superheroes struggling with personal hang-ups and bad guys who possessed previously unseen psychological complexity--added wit and subtlety to a field previously locked into flat portrayals of good vs. evil. Lee put the human in superhuman and in doing so, created a new mythology for the twentieth century. In this beautifully illustrated graphic memoir--illustrated by celebrated artist Colleen Doran--Lee tells the story of his life with the same inimitable wit, energy, and offbeat spirit that he brought to the world of comics. Moving from his impoverished childhood in Manhattan to his early days writing comics, through his military training films during World War II and the rise of the Marvel empire in the 1960s to the current resurgence in movies, Amazing Fantastic Incredible documents the life of a man and the legacy of an industry and career" -- provided by publisher

Listened to the audiobook and it was like listening to grandpa ramble on about his life. He lists coworkers and other people's name to give them some credit, but for the most part it's name dropping of lesser known people. It's as if he's trying to make up for not elevating them earlier. It's not what I was hoping for. Sensed him biting his tongue on bitter topics. Could tell he liked the creative process and wished management with their business concerns would have just stayed out of his way. Putting the negatives aside its a series of short snippets, somewhat sorted, somewhat insightful, in a book with a somewhat exaggerated title. Like listening to grandpa talk about his life.

A fun autobiography of Stan Lee that goes through his childhood, marriage, and career. And, it's in comic form. A good book for those interested in the man who gave us so many Marvel greats.

The writing is snappy and I learned a thing or two about comic history. Great for newbs and old comic fans alike.

Very fitting that a memoir about Stan Lee is written in a comic/ graphic novel style. Easy and enjoyable read about Stan "The Man" Lee.

This is a good bookend to Lee's career as he is winding down. Very good for fans of graphic novels who haven't seen any of the other resources in regards to Lee's life that are out there as it tells his story via comic book medium.

It was okay? It was interesting since I certainly wouldn't say I'm an expert by any means in the world of Stan Lee's early years so it was interesting in that regard. It really is like watching a cartoon version of a TV special about someone's life so that is probably a good thing. Snappy art though and it certainly keeps your attention. Taking this in stride is really important though: there's certainly enough exaggeration in here.
