THE SANDMAN: A GAME OF YOU tells a fascinating tale of lost childhood dreams and the power that they can wield over reality. Since she was a child, Barbie has dreamed of a world in which she was a princess. But after separating from her husband, she has ceased to dream, and her fantasy kingdom has been savagely overrun by an evil entity known as the Cuckoo. Now, as elements of her fantasy world cross over and begin to drastically affect reality, Barbie and her friends venture into the realm of dreams to save its peaceful inhabitants. But against the power of dark and dying dreams, even the combined might of a witch, two lesbian lovers, a transsexual, and a decapitated talking head might not be enough to save two different planes of existence

This volume felt sadder than I was ready for, but I do like the idea of worlds existing inside each and every one of us.

APL Ruiz's resident authority on comics has called Watchmen "the Citizen Kane of graphic novels" and I agree it's a staggering achievement, but I now think The Sandman reaches farther and deeper.

Not as good as some of the volumes, but still recommend it for all Sandman fans! :)

I really liked the Colleen Doran artwork, especially the drawing down the moon bit.

Volume five collects together issues 32-37 of Sandman. "A Game of You" is another solid story put together by Gaiman. This issue is the earliest known to me that prominently features a transgender character. There is also a lesbian couple. The story doesn't belabour these traits, nor gloss over them; this is simply how the characters are. My only complaint was the horrible artwork of issue #34. Fortunately it did not distract from the story. Recommended reading.

While not my favorite in this series, it is a fabulous series. And like the first four volumes I find myself continuing to think and dream about it even days after I finished it.

The single best Sandman storyline ever. Shawn McManus did a brilliant job on the artwork as well.
