Better than I thought. Have read and seen the first set of the story line, you can remember parts when you read the diary part of the book.
The ending, had me go what... wow... and happy/sad smile.

Great book to read if you ever read Flowers in the Attic when you were in high school.

I didn't care so much about the main storyline of the young protagonist and her boyfriend, but the ending of the story is the best part. Curious to see how the "author" will continue it.

What I'd hoped to gain from this new two-book series is another perception in the story that changes the whole dynamic like Garden of Shadows did.

Instead of putting out a book from the perception of Christopher or Corrinne or even Olivia, the author works diary-reading around this awful story about a girl dating a guy and reading the diary together. The diary itself is read only in scraps and the characters talk about it like a book club. It's hard to imagine why the author felt like this was the way to go. The background story is awful, the diary, badly written. Nowhere near the master storytelling of the original VC Andrews

I praise the author for a creative ending even though it's a highly unlikely scenario. Overall these two books just didn't need to be written
