Archipelago is a quietly devastating portrayal of a family in emotional crisis. Edward (Tom Hiddleston) is preparing to leave for a year of voluntary service in Africa. His mother Patricia (Kate Fahy) and his sister Cynthia (Lydia Leonard) decide to gather the family together, on a remote island, as a farewell trip to say goodbye to Edward. Hired cook Rose (Amy Lloyd) and painting teacher Christopher (Christopher Baker), though brought in to help, only serve to bring the family's anxieties into sharper focus. When Edward's father is delayed, the unspoken forces of absence and loss bring the family's buried anger and repressed tension to the surface

this movie is full of 'not much'. not much dialog, not much storyline, not much emotion (they each have 1 emotion).
there really isn't any point to this movie. Each person allegedly has an underlying issue, but nothing gets dealt with or resolved. there is so little dialog, just long camera shots of them doing nothing. the few times there is conversation, its just talking, no reason for it.
the only thing it had much of: frustration as you fast forward thru it.

Archipelago – A sea or stretch of water containing many islands ----- A British family consisting of a mother and her two adult children agree to spend a few days in a rental house on a British archipelago as a sendoff to the son who plans to spend 11 months volunteering in Africa. The family structure is exposed to be an archipelago, with each family member symbolically estranged on their own island. They like each other less and less as the vacation drags on. This film is for serious film-goers only. There is no action, not much of a plot and not a whole lot of words between family members.
