When Julie Crawford leaves Fort Wayne, Indiana, for Hollywood, she never imagines she'll cross paths with fellow Hoosier Carole Lombard. The only job Julie's able to find is one in the studio publicity office of the notoriously demanding producer David O. Selznick, who is busy burning through directors, writers, and money as he films Gone with the Wind. When Lombard hires her as an assistant, and invites her into the glamorous world she shares with still-married Clark Gable, Julie must to fend off the overly curious reporters, hoping to prevent details about the affair from slipping out. Although Julie Crawford has dreams of becoming a screenwriter, the only job she's able to find is one in the studio publicity office of the notoriously demanding producer David O. Selznick--who is busy burning through directors, writers and money as he begins filming "Gone with the Wind."

A quick fun historical fiction read for fans of old Hollywood and Gone With the Wind.

A Touch of Stardust shows Clark Gable with Carol Lombard. If you liked this book, now try Clark Gable with Loretta Young in All the Stars in the Heavens by Adriana Trigiani.

I enjoyed this book very much as well. I loved hearing about all the dramatic actions of David O. Selznick while filming Gone with the Wind. It makes me want to read the book and see the movie again. Loved the characters and the author's style of writing. Looking forward to reading "The Dressmaker" and the "Daring Ladies of Lowell" now.

Recent Smith grad Julie Crawford heads to Hollywood with the dream of being a screenwriter. We follow along for a year as she learns the ropes, all while getting immersed in the filming of 'Gone with the Wind' and the lives of Clark Gable and his soon-to-be-wife Carole Lombard.
Light reading, very fun.

What a great look at Hollywood and the creation of the movie, GONE WITH THE WIND. In fictional form, both Carole Lombard and Clark Gable became human, not just stars we see on the screen. The story revolves around Julie Crawford who came to Hollywood to be a writer. It seems she leads a charmed life, because not only does she fall in love with a Jewish writer, Carole Lombard picks her as a personal assistant, giving Julie an inside look at the romance of Carole and Clark Gable. Add to this the challenges of making GONE WITH THE WIND, and you've got a sure fire fun and interesting read about Hollywood.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. A straight -forward tale told without pages of introspection and description. Just a very entertaining read.
