"[Delving into high-stakes politics, this book follows three players.] Tom Pauley is a conservative trial attorney in Durham, NC, who is tapped by GOP leaders to campaign for the Governor's mansion. His bold style makes him a favorite for a run at the White House. Mitchell Mason is the president-elect of the United States, pushed into politics by a father determined to create a political dynasty ... Samantha Davis is a child actor-turned-lawyer-turned-journalist, working her way up from the bottom in a competitive industry. She is determined and brilliant, and her dogged pursuit of a decade-old story could trigger a scandal that would upend the political landscape"-- Provided by publisher

The only thing interesting about the sophomoric plot of this book is that the author's wife, Megyn Kelly, claims the book is loosely based on her life and career.

I'm surprised she's essentially admitting that she was so easily conned and manipulated ~ twice ~ by a political operative during a presidential campaign on behalf of her former lover and law partner who wouldn't return her phone calls during the campaign. It doesn't seem to be a good way to establish journalistic credibility with her new audience at NBC.

Douglas Brunt's first book The Ghosts of Manhattan was a better read. However, he needs to find more to write about than men who drink excessively and sexually abuse women.

Gripping and an easy read. A novel from many perspectives. I would recommend this book to House of Cards fans.
