I really like Elizabeth Boyle, and her Rhymes With Love series, but I’m not sure this was its strongest entry. I really liked both Harriet and Roxley, and enjoyed their interactions in earlier books, but the heavy reliance on flashbacks for this story made it feel like you were entering a love story midway through, rather than getting to appreciate its full arc, and at times it felt like the adventure/revenge plot took precedence over the romance. It was still well-written and funny and full of great characters – it’s just not the absolute best that Elizabeth Boyle has produced.
