The great merit of this compilation is that, unlike the 30th Anniversary Collection, the songs and tunes are arranged in the chronological order of the films, which allows the listener to observe the progression in styles and tastes. For example, my favourites are the first four songs: the romantic "From Russia With Love" and "You Only LIve Twice", and the powerful "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball" (not necessarily in that oder). The next one is in a class of its own: Louis Armstrong singing near the end of his career the extremely moving "We Have All the Time in the World" (especially knowing the plot of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"). Paul McCartney did not have one of his greatest inspirations, but then it is not easy to write a song with the title "Live And Let Die". Among the rest, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton and Rita Coolidge stand out. The 30th Anniversary Collection includes the "secondary" James Bond theme, but of course ends with the Timothy Dalton movies. Unlike this one, it has excellent liner notes.

Great compilation of the James Bond Movie Theme Songs. However, there is one glaring issue with this cd and that is the fact that the "James Bond Theme" was the version from "Doctor No" the movie, which was recorded in MONAURAL (MONO) and not in stereo. There are stereo versions of the "James Bond Theme" song on other original James Bond Movies soundtracks, so this glaring omission should have been avoided.

Now the original "James Bond Theme" was written by Monty Norman and arranged by John Barry. Notice that the John Barry Orchestra is the listed artist for this song and others on the cd. The reason I bring this up is that there is a stereo version you can download from Freelegal by John Barry, the arranger. If you want to stay "true" to the music, this stereo John Barry version would be in keeping with this compilation and sound so much more satisfying. It also is a little longer.

What is there not to love about James Bond music? Some is a little weak, but most are quite memorable and sometimes fun.

(Lyrics excerpt penned by John Barry) - "From Russia with love I fly to you.... Much wiser since my goodbye to you.... I've travelled the world to learn.... I must return from Russia with love...."

This "Best of Bond" CD is, without question, a super-duper collection of 22 tracks covering 45 years (1963-2008) of James Bond movie theme songs from nearly every 007 film since year one.

Out of this top-notch compilation - My absolute favourite is Matt Monro singing "From Russia With Love". (*Watch music-video*) - After this great tune - 3 of my top picks are - Tom Jones belting out "Thunderball" - Sheena Easton serenading "For Your Eyes Only" - (and, finally) - Shirley Bassey warbling "Goldfinger".

Yep. If you are a fan of James Bond/007 movies, then this CD is certainly worth a listen. There's bound to be several tracks here that'll really appeal to your tastes.

P.S. - Is it any surprise that Miss Piggy... (Oops!)... I mean, Madonna singing "Die Another Day" is one of the worst tracks of the lot?

Great to listen to the James Bond opening scores from the original artists.
