As entertaining as he is prolific, Tim Flannery travels to the islands north of Australia. He travels there in pursuit of endangered creatures, creatures teetering, perhaps on the edge of extinction. Not only bats and rats, but also the people of these island come under his microscope. An interesting book indeed, especially for those with an interest in anthropology or biology.

Easy read about a biologist's journeys on remote islands in the South Pacific. Enjoyable and sad. Sad about the many species going extinct due to human impacts. His stories illustrate the impact over a short period of time...over 20 years...a species is gone.
