I found this movie in the children's section. It's a great movie but I wouldn't say it's a kids movie.

neaver read it but it sounds good

A very unusual film of a family of a mother (who seems so young) and her daughters who take in an ailing grandfather.

We see the family is wounded over the desertion of the father, struggling to make ends meet, when they are given what appears to be some help: they are to take in the grandfather and will be given some financial assistance for doing so.

This is apparently in Australia so perhaps their system of care is so alien and so different from Canada's?

The eldest daughter cares for her sisters and occasionally for her somewhat foolish mother who brings another man into the house.

The grandfather really complicates things when he seemingly sees the eldest granddaughter as being his love (wife? lost love?). The film is "edgy" and risky for this very reason but manages to keep to a very careful line.

The pair run away when the grandfather apparently will be taken away by authorities but they return and the movie ends without clear resolution (like life in other words).
