Young orphan Peter & his 4 buddies from the orphanage are unknowingly being shipped off to an evil king to serve as his expendable servant boys. During the ship voyage, Peter crosses paths with Molly, the daughter of an important Englishman. Her father is on a different ship on a secret mission en route to the same destination. Molly soon discovers that the trunk her father was sworn to protect is actually on her ship --- the trunks had been secretly switched to further protect its contents. In an effort to protect the trunk, Molly must enlist the help of a trustworthy person which she finds nearly impossible given the people aboard her ship, the "Neverland". She eventually chooses to trust Peter, & the 2 devise a plan to protect & safely deliver the valuable contents of the trunk, the star stuff. Of course there is a pirate by the name of Captain Stash that is after the star stuff. Along with his sidekick Smee, they change course in order to intercept the star stuff. There are many thrilling things that happen along the journey, but ultimately Molly & Peter prevail in keeping the star stuff from getting in the wrong hands. After being reunited, Molly & her father discuss her efforts to protect the star stuff. When Molly's father discovers that Peter touched the gold chest full of star stuff in order to move it to a safe hiding spot, he becomes deeply interested in the what will happen next with Peter. You see, star stuff is so powerful that those who touch that large of a quantity directly usually die. However, Peter did NOT die! Instead he obtains some incredible abilities, the ability to fly & to stop aging, which Molly's father believes are permanent. Sound familiar?

This story was so fun! Put that together with my all-time favorite narrator Jim Dale......fireworks!
Anytime I find a book about the beginning of a story I already love, I'm going to read it! Learning how Peter Pan became the never-aging, flying kid that we know & love was a true magic. Together with his 4 orphan buddies (the Lost Boys) & his new friend Molly the star catcher, every chapter was a new thrill just waiting to be discovered!

Age recommendation: all ages

On a scale of 1-10 stars, I give it 10!
