I found that this documentary's story really made me stop and think about how we humans are not only totally ruining the habitat of so many other animals on this planet, but we are also ruining their right to life, as well.

"Elsa's Legacy" is a truly emotional experience. This presentation should be viewed by one and all so that it might encourage more people to stop and think and maybe act on doing something about protecting the lives of the other creatures on Earth before its too late to do so.

Originally broadcast on "NATURE" television series in 2010, this 53-minute documentary delves into the Wildlife conservation since the 1966 film of "Born Free".
It includes home footage of Elsa and her cubs shot by the Adamsons and interviews with Virginia McKenna (played Joy Adamson in the 1966 movie) and David Attenborough, who produced, hosted and narrated BBC documentary:"Elsa the Lioness" in 1961.
If you're an animal lover, this is a must-see.

Even if you have never seen the emotionally moving, 1966 nature-film "Born Free" - You can be sure that "Elsa's Legacy" will, indeed, offer you a truly memorable viewing experience.

Impressively presented through PBS Network's "Nature" series - This sometimes happy/sometimes sad documentary not only takes an in-depth look behind the scenes of the making of "Born Free" - But, it also looks at what has become of the real-life characters who were portrayed in this film.

Through stills, archival footage, and interviews - This insightful presentation will, no doubt, leave you believing that animals (other than humans) actually do possess individual personalities and that these wonderful creatures must be protected from poachers and saved from extinction.

What a story.
The authors behind the book "Born Free" and their behind the scenes and afterwards of it, to their tragic end of their lives.
What a truly remarkable true story.
Was in a way kind of similar to another project that was done with Jim Dutcher in the book "Wolves at our Door".
Enjoyed both immensely.

A look back at the lioness Elsa and her relationship with the Adamsons. This also explores the story of the work the Adamsons did in the years following that period, and the parallel fates they met. The documentary combines the words of both, archival footage, reenactments, and commentary from those who knew the couple, all filmed in the areas they lived in. It's a good and thorough examination of people who saw the individuality of animals that most people saw as a nuisance or something to be hunted and destroyed. As is usually the case with PBS, this documentary is well done.

Based on a true story "Born Free" was and still is a very heartwarming story of deep and unique affection between a human and a wild and beautiful creature. This behind the film documentary is "Elsa's" legacy. Through their recordings and recollections we get a new appreciation for everything that is wild and free.

Very interesting story. Some scenes you watch and admire how loving the lions are with the humans; others you hold your breath while hoping the story doesn't lead where you fear it might. Well worth watching!
