"I'm a hustler homey, you're a customer crony, got some dirt on my shoulder, will you brush it off for me?"
Jay-Z is quite possibly the most successful rapper of all time, at least financially. As he memorably said, he's a "business, man." If had gone out, as he promised, with "The Black Album," he would have an untarnished record, but he couldn't stay away and his albums since then have been a mixed bag, although he's still capable of monster singles like "Empire State of Mind" and his collaboration with Kanye, "N****** in Paris." I wonder who this 2010 compilation is for. Fans will already have these tracks, while the casual listener will just download what they like. So it's superfluous as an album, but, that said, it's a pretty excellent overview of his best work, including "99 Problems," "Big Pimpin'," and "Dirt of Your Shoulder." I'm not sure how "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)" got on there, but everything else is great and you could throw this on at almost any gathering and people would be happy. Also check out his book "Decoded."
