This was a great book. I thought everything was portrayed well and was very emotional.

A children's classic with evergreen appeal, "A Little Princess" is both a lavish period piece and a wonderful story about hope in the face of adversity, and the intrinsic benefits of being a good and kind person. Though the characters are drawn broadly, as was the custom of the era, Sara Crewe still manages to be an engaging and sympathetic heroine, and her story can't help but inspire its readers to aspire to her level of decency and resolve. This book gave me great comfort as a child of adversity myself, and I am confident it will continue to be a resource for children long into the future.

This story starts out so happy for little Sara Crewe. Despite her station in life with money to spare, she is an odd, kind little girl. When hard situations and sadness crashes into her life, Sara shows bravery and reaches into her imagination to get through the hunger and degradation she is put through.

‘The Little Princess’ shows how money can lift you up in the eyes of some people, like the headmistress and some of the girls, and that is a sad reality of life. But if somebody is a true friend, like Becky and Ermengarde, then your wealth is not as important as the kindness of your heart.

This book is a gem, and it holds many important lessons that anybody of any age can treasure. This is a wonderful read for everybody.

One of my all time favorite classics from my earlier childhood. My grandmother gave me the book and I read it over and over. The characters are very loveable and the story is a great one.

This has long been one of my favorite classics. I first read it in elementary school, and I identified very strongly with the main character. It's wonderful for children and adults alike.

I read this when I was a little girl and it was a pleasant surprise when I found this at the library. A Little Princess is the classic novel about how Sara Crewe, a very kind and genuine girl goes from riches to rags but still keeps her gentle and compassionate spirit through it all. Sara shows that being a princess does not mean one has all the wealth in the world but rather that one is good to others. Although it is a children’s book, this has a message that we all should live by!

I have watched 3 different movie versions of this book (including the Shirley Temple version), so it was about time I read this classic novel. I can see why it is a beloved story, especially for little girls! The prose is delightful and captures the era perfectly, Sara is an intriguing and thoughtful character, and the story is charming and sweet. Sara is such a good example for young girls; she's kind, thoughtful, patient, ready to learn...the list goes on. What I probably loved the most about her was that even when others treated her unfairly or unkindly (specifically Miss Minchin), she did not snap or lose her temper. But she drove them mad or made them dumbstruck by her patient humility and wisdom. I loved that. It was also wonderful to see how Sarah touched the lives of many, many people. A delightful read. An absolute classic.
