The quality of writing is at about elementary school level....but I've read better kindergarden stories. this is formula writing at it's worst. I stopped reading after 2 chapters..that was more than enough.

I've been reading SF and Fantasy for over fifty years, and I've been disappointed many times by poor quality writing, but this kept me interested enough that I read the sequel, and am looking for the final volume three. The characters are sympathetic enough so that one cares what happens to them, and the created mythology moves the plot along in a reasonably believable manner. There are a LOT worse writers out there!

The book is fine but not original; the poor quality of writing makes it uninteresting to read. I skipped to the end and was able to guess what happened by reading the last few chapters.
