Hannah has excellent reasons to despise the caddish Bradford Ramsey, as do many other women. Nevertheless, she'd rather not expose her youthful indiscretions, especially to her policeman beau. Hannah is very busy with the mayor's wife Lake Eden, Minn. charity event at which Ramsey is host. So what should she say when she stumbles upon his murdered corpse?

This book is very simplistic. I enjoy the characters, but everything is just a bit too bland, too well, simplistic!

The best part, for me, are the recipes.... not that I try them. But, they are mostly so funny. I have friends in Minnesota [where the series takes place] and the recipes are dead on for what my friends eat. The "hot dish" [casserole], recipes that use cans of soup, etc. I mean, the recipes aren't meant to be funny, but they are dead-on. Just cracks me up. Plus, all of the coffee and hot cocoa.

I always enjoy Joanne Fluke's mysteries...and especially the recipes!

Although the story is a little simple and the characters somewhat "cookie-cutter", I did enjoy the recipes worked into the storyline and tried several of them.

Fast-moving, as usual. An added complication is that it looks like Hannah may not get either of her two guys, after all her dithering as to which one she wants.

I love Joanne Fluke's mystery series featuring Hannah Swenson, owner of The Cookie Jar. Hannah seems to find dead bodies and gets involved in all the local hoopla surrounding murder investigations. Two swains, Norman and Mike, are always around to give her a helping hand. Humourous and heartwarming, this is a terrific mystery series.
