The decent, entertaining novel with a good twist in the end. I didn't care for the main character - she could have been more gripping and relatable.

I pretty much hated this book. It was angst riddled and just plain nasty. I will finish it but won't be tempted to read another by Gillian Flynn.

I didn't finish. After I found out who the killer was I quit. Don't know if I missed anything but didn't care.

Wow, is this book dark and creepy and very wrong. If Stephen King and V.C. Andrews had a baby, this is the book that baby would write.

That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the book. I did. But after I finished the last page, I had to go outside and sit in the sunshine and listen to the birds sing while my canine and others played in the dog park.

Well- written, squirmy, and disturbing. Don't read this book if any of that sounds off-putting to you.

If you enjoyed Gone Girl, I would recommend giving Sharp Objects a try. It is dark and a great first novel by Gillian Flynn. The HBO mini-series starring Amy Adams is definitely worth a watch. I love the pacing - it is a slow burn that captures your full attention. How they weave together the past and the present is genius. I can't wait to watch more.

I re-read this title in anticipation of the HBO mini-series by the same name. Gillian Flynn has ushered in a new genre of fiction - the story of the angry and violent woman! This is her first novel and it is every bit as compelling as Gone Girl. Twists, destructive relationships, mother/daughter issues, and mental disorders. It's a fascinating story of a young Chicago woman sent to cover the death's of two young girls in her own hometown of home in Wind Gap, Missouri. The story is a gripping page turner. Or, if your like me, a gripping listen. I downloaded the audio book from DCL's Libby app. Kudos to Flynn's first turn as a writer.

A dark and creepy story that doesn’t go on.... I watched the movie Gone Girl and had the same feeling. Now I can see that she is not one of my favorite writers.

Sharp Objects (written by Gillian Flynn) was one of the greatest books I have read in quite a while. This book was raw and was very interesting as it went into depth of mental health and different unhealthy coping mechanisms. This story follows a 30-something year old woman named Camille Preaker and her adventures in Wind Gap (her childhood hometown). The scary and intriguing part is- she gets involved in two murders as she has to report on them for her job back home! I recommend this book to people who like chilling thrillers, or enjoy mysteries. This book was NOT predictable and I did not find this story to be a waste of my time... I finished it in three days! I definately rate this book a solid 5/5 @Montgomery of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

A grittier version of 'Gone Girl' mixed with '13 Reasons Why', set in a small town. Two girls have been gruesomely murdered and damaged detective Camille Preaker is on the case. She just got checked out of a mental hospital, and has to connect with her estranged family. Gillian Flynn the author and basically a female Stephen King for the thriller genre is a blessing for the YA book section.

EXTREMELY dark story. Interesting and fairly well done, it stays with you. Not in a good way. I'm done with her books.

I feel like a warm gust of wind could exhale my way and I'd be disappeared forever, not even a sliver of fingernail left behind. On some days, I find this thought calming; on others it chills me.”

"I'd known little about Mrs. Roosevelt, except that she was good, which at the time I suppose was enough. Given my druthers now, I'd prefer a snapshot of Warren Harding's wife, 'the Duchess,' who recorded the smallest offenses in a little red notebook and avenged herself accordingly. Today I like my first ladies with a little bite.”
