This book isn't badly written, and I can see how it would appeal to people who aren't me. I stopped reading it in the middle because it was just so...ugly. Which is weird - I have a high tolerance for dark, grim, violent stuff going on in my books. I love A Song of Ice and Fire, for example, which set a new benchmark for character deaths. But ASOIF has great characters and a really interesting world, and the characters here were not compelling enough to keep me going.
