One of the funniest starts to a book ever! Too bad the rest of it doesn't continue in this vein. Eric is one of the smallest Discworld novels, and not one of the most clever, but it does continue the Rincewind story from where it left off in Sourcery. As always, the Luggage is dogged in its pursuit of its master, terrorizing the inhabitants of whatever place, or time it ends up in. Eric could have been an interesting character, but he gets dragged around, doesn't learn from his experience, and there is no indication of what becomes of him, or Rincewind for that matter, afterwards. Some different places and times of the Discworld are explored, and getting to see the end and beginning of it is a treat.
