The sweetly humorous, light colored pastel drawings evoke the familiar sight of a young child's world. There's a moral here as D.W. starts out cocky about her gymnastic ability but ends up taking the teacher's directions seriously and practicing until she masters the art of the forward roll.

D.W. practiced in her room every night. She practiced in the dining room. She practiced in the laundry room. She practiced everywhere. Finally it was time for D.W.'s next class.
