Progressive concept for 1972, still holds up as a great fantasy/horror story. The 1975 movie with Katherine Ross highlighted the book well, horror genre. Skip the remake though with Nicole Kidman. Enjoyable, though very short read.

Creepy and disturbing, this one will make you want to side-eye the menfolk in your life, just to be safe. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers or dystopias, you'll like this novella.

There are not many books that make me wish I had read them so much earlier.

But this is one book I wish I had read decades before today.

It is scowl-inducingly short, I must confess. I suppose it is rather like a very rich cheesecake - a little bit goes a long way.

It is an extremely well written novel and it is a very interesting topic that Mr. Levine chose to write about. I would definitely recommend this book.

It's a great read (and I'm not just saying that because I'm related to the author).

Reading the introduction to this edition may give younger readers a better insight into what the book is about. This book was written at the beginning of the femenist movement where women were being torn between being homemakers or getting out on their own. The book extremizes this situation and creates a town where the men move so they can have their perfect wife who only thinks of housework.

I thought this story was good, but strangely enough the movie with Nicole Kidman was far better. For once the movie fleshed out the story more than the original book, plus the movie had a much better, more satisfactory ending.

Chilling. A gripping and thought-provoking read. Avoid the movie and read the book.
