This author, ira Levin, wrote some groundbreaking novels.this one, however, was a letdown. the film, should have been better , boasting Gregory Peck and that very well regarded English actor, Sir something or other, tussling in a fine sitting room, no stunt actors involved. It's a Nazi-hunt case, think Dr. Joseph Mengele, you'll be in the right ball park. If you are unfamiliar with the issues involved, this is a must-read, must see. something to do with preserving the purity of the Aryan race.....at least the question is not raised whether or no hitler put a bullet into his brain, in the Berlin bunker. Mengele was a true personage, and he had his scientific mad desires. Fictionalized, this could have been a shot heard 'round the world. that it is something quite less, is hard to figure. you may remember that Oliver Stone left the Nazis out of his roster of villains, in his movie from 1990, JFK. I didn't miss them, there. But they are definitely mentioned in this book. How scarey it is, I don't know. Maybe if Oliver had made: EICHMANN, he'd have been more accepted by the mainstream media.
